Thanks to Pinterest I get to make my dream of creating homemade iced coffee come true. What a wonderful, creative world we live in.
Homemade Iced Coffee
You see, there’s a picture going around toting amazing-looking iced coffee and so I took the image—recipe unseen—and went for it.
The most interesting part of this recipe is the coffee is literally frozen
First I froze some leftover coffee as ice cubes. I was a little concerned it would ruin my ice cube trays so I used my most broken ones. Just in case.
So that was step one. Coffee ice cubes. After that, I poured up a couple glasses of milk over top and thought that would be that. However, it wasn’t awesome. It wasn’t gross either, it just didn’t taste quite right.
So we tried a few things. Chocolate syrup, more coffee, more milk.
It never looked as good as the Pinterest inspiration thought. Wait, is this where the term “Nailed it” comes from?
Homemade iced coffee
After several more tries I think I stumbled upon something delicious: coffee syrup. I put a shot of chocolate mint in mine, added more milk, gave it a stir and it tasted AWESOME!
I don’t know what I was expecting this whole time. Perhaps I didn’t just want cold coffee but something more interesting and tasty. So milk and chocolate mint is my secret sauce.
In the end it was a good thing I didn’t care about my ice cube tray because it is super stained. But that’s OK because it now officially has exclusive job of icing coffee cubes. Because I can see this becoming a regular treat.
Oh, and I should also let you know I looked up the recipe the pin directed me to (after this whole incident of course) and it suggests pouring almond milk over the coffee cubes. That sounds pretty good too.
