Here’s an update of my summer chronicles. What I’m working on. I’ve been busy! But maybe not in ways you expected.
A writer’s summer chronicles
I was thinking about the writing I’ve done this summer and realized I’ve spent the past few months, maybe longer, focusing on content marketing.
Not just focusing, but honing my skills. Studying, practicing, correcting, testing, and finding ways to do something new in an industry I suspect doesn’t embrace change.
I suppose this doesn’t sound interesting but to me it is. Because I was trained in a related, yet opposite, field. Journalism. Tell the story, tell it straight, keep your bias to a minimum.
Marketing on the other hand is all about influencing choices and finding ways to stand out in a noisy world. It is a horrible, wonderful, difficult, exciting, creative, frustrating, interesting field.
And I love it | Summer Chronicles
However, in my haste to learn and excel at content marketing I’ve allowed my storytelling to take a back seat. Upon this realization (because it wasn’t intentional so much as a byproduct of filling up my time and mind with mastering the craft) I opted to keep up with journalism…even though I’m SO TIRED.
So on top of my fundraising, marketing, advertising, behind-the-scenes type writing I’m picking up work here and there with Van City Buzz and Tourism Abbotsford.
And I love it
So, that’s my version of a writer’s summer chronicles. I have a few other projects on the back burner I’m hoping to get to soon. A few book reviews, copy editing a couple other projects…and then, well, my own book. One day.

One more thing. You may be interested in my free resource library. This is where I keep my files, downloads, ebooks, worksheets and whatever else I manage to create. I love sharing what I learn and want to keep adding to this library so it becomes a wealth of helpful goodness.
This is a free resource but I do require a password to access the library itself. You can get access by popping your email address into the form below.
